How do I register for the Mailing List? - Normally, all members are automatically signed up for the Mailing List. If you believe that you may not be on the Mailing List, just send an email to the webmaster, whose email id is on every webpage - OR - go to the Mailing List subscription page and enter your request. 2. How can I stop getting so many emails? We try to ensure that unnecessary emails are not sent to our membership. If you believe there are too many, please let our club president or the webmaster know of your concerns and we will try to eliminate or combine some announcements. 3. How do I suggest improvements? Just write to the webmaster or share your idea with any director or officer. 4. How do I change my email address? Just write to the webmaster, giving your old and your new email id and it will be changed. 5. How do I unsubscribe? While we hope all members will participate, if you do not want to receive any club announcements, just email the webmaster and your id will be removed. However, that means that the only announcements that you will receive will be the twice yearly postal mailings. 6. How do I send a post to the Mailing List? - You can post to the group by sending an email to members@syracusepistolclub.net. However, you must be a subscriber or the email will be rejected. When posting, please use a meaningful title or subject; not just 'Help' or 'For Sale', or 'Hi'... 7. Why can't I send attachments when posting to the Mailing List? Attachments require more bandwidth for our group and many members may not be able to access your attachments because they may not have the appropriate software or a compatible version (e.g., Word or Excel.) Further, allowing attachments exposes our members to the possibility of viruses. 8. Why was my post to the mailing list rejected or held for approval? The mailing list software will hold for approval any email that "looks like" spam or that is in HTML format. To avoid this, always use plain text (no fancy fonts or color) and use original posts. That is, if you copy and paste a long dissertation from a website, whether on gun control, the NRA, or whatever, the mailing list may see it as spam. Website and Club Topics a. How can I know when there is new information on the website? Well, one way is to check the website every day. The easier way is to sign up for notifications. In the lower left portion of the main page there is a signup box to receive notification anytime the main page changes. This ensures that you are always abreast of club activities. b. Is it true that the club benefits when I renew or join NRA from the website? - Yes. The club gets back several dollars of your renewal fee. This is a win-win for everyone. The NRA benefits from your continued membership; you get your renewed membership quickly just by clicking a few links on the website; and our club benefits from the revenue. This applies to anyone who uses our website; not just members, so tell your non-club friends and family members. c. How do I volunteer to help the club? Just tell any officer or director that you would like to help and give an idea of what talents you can offer. |
